First off, thank you for all of your well wishes. I am still in a fair amount of shock, but the reality of this is sinking in slowly. Hearing that unexpected heartbeat on Tuesday morning was one of the most surreal moments of my life. We have started calling the grayish creature that has established itself in our lives the Sock, both in tribute to it’s origins and clear resemblance to said garment.

Actually, the Sock’s origins have us a bit worried. Tim and I can’t remember exactly if or what we promised the Powers the Be on that fateful night. As far as we can put the pieces together, best case scenario is the child will be named Damon Manny Varitek Orlando Ortiz. Worst case scenario is, a guy with a forked tail shows up at our door on August 4th. We’re clearly hoping for the former.

The best part about the Sock? We actually have several T-shirts commemorating its conception. How many kids will be able to say that?

OMG, congratulations, Suzie. At least one of us has her shit together and on track. (And I can't express to you how truly thankful it's you and not me in this case. *LOL*)

You will rock the sock's world as a mommy. True dat!

Suzie:

If you weren't a doctor, how long do you think it would have taken you to figure out you're pregnant? Just curious.

Damn, you go out of town on a couple of business trips and come back to find your blogger friends with Sock. Congratulations! Now at least when it is only Tim and I at the blogger-geek throw down you will know why.

Inspiration I read once that the ancient Egyptians had fifty words for sand & the Eskimos had a hundred words for snow. I wish I had a thousand words for love, but all that comes to mind is the way you move against me while you sleep & there are no words for that.
