i do love me some baseball
December 15, 2004 / 12:50 PM

In case you were wondering, seven weeks ago today the Red Sox won the World Series. I am sure, that in spite of my well documented love of the game, it is a complete coincidence that today I am unexpectedly, unaccountably, exactly seven weeks pregnant.

Yes, it's true. I'm the worst doctor in the whole world. At least it only took me about two weeks to figure out that I wasn't sick, I was knocked up.

OH man, I turn into a big ol' ball of weepy cheeeeese when I find out a woman is pregnant.

And can I just tell you as someone who found herself totally unexpectedly pregnant (with her THIRD child when she only wanted TWO children!!) and who cried for 2 weeks after finding out, because it wasn't planned, that OH MY GOD, it's been the most beautiful, unplanned thing that has ever happened to me. (and see what the name of my site is? GET IT?!?)

Congratulations!!!

We welcome Little David Ortiz, Jr., with open arms.

I'm sure that if it's a girl, she won't mind that name at all. Especially when she becomes the first female Sox starting pitcher!

I wonder how many millions of young'uns were conceived on TheNightTheCurseWasBroken...and will they be saddled with some silly name like The Baby Soxers? Congratulations to mommy & daddy, high fives to the wee speck on choice of parental units...you won the lottery, little dude.

Inspiration I read once that the ancient Egyptians had fifty words for sand & the Eskimos had a hundred words for snow. I wish I had a thousand words for love, but all that comes to mind is the way you move against me while you sleep & there are no words for that.
