lack of progress

I am STILL still here. My job continues to wear me out, but there are little glimmers here and there. After three meetings and digging my heels in the sand I am able to keep access to the medicines I need in my office. I got a thank you card in the mail today that made me smile. There is a rumor circulating that my new partner may be coming home from Baghdad a month early. And if the rumor is not true, January is getting closer.

Josie still refuses to walk, although she is nearing fourteen months old. My mother tells me that I was close to fifteen months, so I don’t worry about this particular milestone too much. She knows and uses about ten words of sign language, she wakes up laughing every morning and giggles at the drop of a hat. She is goofy. She is so much fun.

Gee add mom to it and of course you get worn out. But I'm glad you posted.

Leslie cruised from about 9-14 months, and took her first unaided steps while I was out working a crappy part-time job. But she repeated them for me the next morning to show me they weren't a fluke. ;->

She progressed to running by 16 months.

In short, be careful what you wish for...

Clara Jane was damn near 18 months before she started walking on her own. It's maddening, I know. But I'll tell you what a gazillion people told me: the more verbally advanced the baby, the slower they are mechanically, and vice versa. Sounds like Josie, like CJ's, so busy learning signs and words that she can't be bothered with that walking business.

Inspiration I read once that the ancient Egyptians had fifty words for sand & the Eskimos had a hundred words for snow. I wish I had a thousand words for love, but all that comes to mind is the way you move against me while you sleep & there are no words for that.
