Back in the pre-Bear days we had been known to drive the 588 miles roundtrip to see a game at Fenway without thinking too much about it. These days of course, we can’t spend 22 hours of a precious weekend in a car, so Josie has had to make do with our very nice little National League team right here in Pittsburgh.

All this is a little circuitous I realize, but when I come right out and say that we planned a whole vacation around happening to be in Toronto at the same time as the Red Sox it sounds a little, well, crazy. Let’s face it though, No Red Sox, no Josie. It’s time for the kid to meet her makers.

(And in case you were wondering, I’m a grown woman and a mother, so even though we’re staying the closest swanky hotel to the stadium I most certainly have NOT spent the night riding up and down the elevators hoping to "accidentally" run into Jason Varitek.)

Hahahahaha. We're headed to LI today to surprise my parents at the nursery school they run - full of screaming toddlers and teachers and Yankee fans. Naturally, I dressed my son in his Varitek jersey. ;-)

Did you read the piece in the New Yorker about Manny Ramirez?

Hey Suzie! What's with the green home uniforms? I think they are attrocious! UGH! Whatever happened to tradition?

You were in Toronto? I grew up 45 minutes west in Hamilton. If I was still there it would have been neat to have met you three for coffee. I've been a devoted reader for a couple years now.

I hope you had a great time. Lots of great shopping to do downtown and restaurants to explore. Hopefully you checked out the Roots Megastore at the Eaton's Center on Younge St. I LOVE their leather purses and shoes. Divine!

If you're ever in Northern British Columbia look me up. I'll probably be in the labour and delivery unit chanting "push...push..PUSHHHH!" to a mother-to-be. My daughter is just slightly younger than Josie. I could see the two of them raving around the backyard as only toddlers can.

Have a safe drive home!

Never mind Suzie. I found out why they were wearing green.

Inspiration I read once that the ancient Egyptians had fifty words for sand & the Eskimos had a hundred words for snow. I wish I had a thousand words for love, but all that comes to mind is the way you move against me while you sleep & there are no words for that.
